The .SE country-specific top-level domain extension was launched in 1986 and given to Sweden. During the first years after its introduction, the registration procedure was pretty restrictive, so a very low number of domain names were reserved. Individuals were permitted to order solely one domain under .PP.SE (“pp” stands for “private person”). Local presence was a prerequisite, i.e. only Swedish persons, businesses and organizations were able to register a .SE domain.
